Mothers can bring their babies up to 15 months old. “Mom’s Place” is for women who feel overwhelmed, sad, worried, or need extra support. “Mom’s Place” meets every Tuesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at 20 Erford Road, Suite 11, Lemoyne.</p>

<p>“Mom’s Place” is led by a clinician from Holy Spirit Hospital’s Behavioral Health department. The group is educational, supportive, and fun. Light refreshments are provided. “Mom’s Place” also hosts family night where women can bring partners or spouses. For more information, please call 763-2200.</p>

<p>Holy Spirit Diabetes Services is offering “Diabetes Management” group classes for those interested in learning more about how to manage their diabetes.</p>

<p style="margin-right: -13.5pt;">The group classes will provide attendees with information and support from the educator and their peers as they learn to successfully manage their diabetes. The classes will cover:</p>

<ul>
<li>The basics of diabetes, blood glucose testing, and A1c</li>
<li>Heart disease, lipids, and blood pressure</li>
<li>The importance of exercise and physical activity</li>
<li>Effective tools for weight management</li>
<li>Reducing sodium and added sugars in meals and snacks</li>
<li>Healthy versus unhealthy fats and carbohydrates</li>
<li>Carbohydrate counting, label reading, and tips for eating out</li>
<li>Diabetes medications, high/low blood glucose management, and sick days</li>
<li>Care of eyes, skin, feet, and mouth</li>
</ul>

<p>Classes are offered in a four-part series at two different times: 10 a.m. to noon and 4 to 6 p.m. To register for the group classes, please call Holy Spirit Diabetes Services at 717.763.2466.</p>

<p>Holy Spirit–A Geisinger Affiliate is offering a free “Heartsaver AED” CPR class for community members on Saturday, June 13. American Heart Association-trained instructors will be teaching the class in Holy Spirit Hospital’s auditorium.</p>

<p>“We want people in the community to learn CPR so they can help a victim of cardiac arrest before the Emergency Medical Services crew arrives,” said Christy Liddington, BSN, RN, Training Center Coordinator. “CPR is easy to learn and we are offering it free so more people take advantage of this opportunity.”</p>

<p>The course will teach participants the skills needed to successfully recognize when someone is in trouble and how to begin cardiopulmonary resuscitation on adults, children and infants. Participants will receive hands-on practice using an automated external defibrillator (AED).&nbsp; They will also learn how to help a choking victim.</p>

<p>The “Heartsaver AED” class will be offered to community members.&nbsp; This course is intended to teach the lay rescuer.&nbsp; Participants may elect to learn adult and child CPR and/or infant CPR. This class begins at 9 a.m.</p>

<p>After successfully completing the course, each participant will receive a course completion card.&nbsp; To register for this free class, please call 717.972.4262. Please register early as space is limited.</p>

<p>Holy Spirit–A Geisinger Affiliate has teamed up with cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, and health professionals to provide cardiac health education, as well as group support to patients, their families, and caregivers to promote lifelong heart healthy living.</p>

<p>Holy Spirit’s “Spirited Hearts” cardiovascular support group meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 24, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., in Holy Spirit Hospital’s Auditorium C&amp;D. Tina Davies, PharmD, Holy Spirit–A Geisinger Affiliate, will present “ABCs for your heart.” A question and answer session will follow the presentation.&nbsp; Professional counselors are available to talk with attendees during the last 30 minutes of the session.</p>

<p>In June, Holy Spirit–A Geisinger Affiliate will hold its support group for those who suffer from atrial fibrillation (A-Fib).</p>

<p>Join Safwat Gassis, M.D., FACC, FHRS, David Man, M.D., FACC, and Stacey Solomon, RN-BC, from Holy Spirit Atrial Fibrillation Center–A Geisinger Affiliate, on Monday, June 29, from 2 to 3:30 p.m., for a discussion about “Living and coping with atrial fibrillation.”</p>

<p>Atrial fibrillation is the most common heart rhythm disorder. Therapies can substantially reduce symptoms and the risk of heart failure and stroke. Coping techniques can help improve quality of life.</p>
