<p>Holy Spirit Diabetes Services is offering “Building a Healthy Life with Diabetes” group classes for those interested in learning more about how to manage their diabetes.</p>

<p>The group classes will provide attendees with information and support from the educator and their peers as they learn to successfully manage their diabetes. The classes will cover:</p>

<ul>
<li>The basics of diabetes, blood glucose testing, and A1c</li>
<li>Heart disease, lipids, and blood pressure</li>
<li>The importance of exercise and physical activity</li>
<li>Carbohydrate counting, label reading, and tips for eating out</li>
<li>Weight management and practical ways to eat a well-balanced diet</li>
<li>Diabetes medications, high/low blood glucose management, and sick days</li>
<li>Care of eyes, skin, feet, and mouth</li>
<li>Goal setting and achieving effective behavior changes</li>
</ul>

<p>Classes are offered in a four-week series at two different times: Tuesdays from 4 to 6 p.m. and Fridays from 10 a.m. to noon. To register for the “Building a Healthy Life with Diabetes” group classes, please call 717-763-2466.</p>

<p>Classes may be covered by your insurance. Interested individuals should contact their insurance provider to see if this class is covered.</p>

Mothers can bring their babies up to 15 months old. “Mom’s Place” is for women who feel overwhelmed, sad, worried, or need extra support. “Mom’s Place” meets every Tuesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at 20 Erford Road, Suite 11, Lemoyne.</p>

<p>“Mom’s Place” is led by a clinician from Holy Spirit Hospital’s Behavioral Health department. The group is educational, supportive, and fun. Light refreshments are provided. “Mom’s Place” also hosts family night where women can bring partners or spouses. For more information, please call 763-2200.</p>

<p>Holy Spirit Diabetes Services offers a free monthly support group for people with pre-diabetes, Type 2 diabetes and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and their families. “A Taste of Sugar” meets on the second Monday of each month from 6 to 7 p.m. in Wegman’s conference room. <p>Men over 45 – or any man with a family history of prostate cancer – who have not had a prostate screening in the past year can get free PSA and DRE testing on Thursday, August 21.</p>

<p>Holy Spirit Health System and Urology of Central Pennsylvania, Inc. (UCPA) have teamed up with ZERO, The End Of Prostate Cancer, to bring a mobile unit to the area for free, confidential, and convenient testing. The ZERO mobile unit has two private exam rooms. Testing takes about 10 minutes and no appointment is needed.</p>

<p>The free DRE and PSA screenings will be provided in private exam rooms in a specially converted bus. Men can take advantage of these free screenings from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Holy Spirit Camp Hill Center, 875 Poplar Church Road, Camp Hill.</p>

<p>Physicians from Urology of Central Pennsylvania will perform the prostate exams and staff from Holy Spirit Hospital will draw the blood for the PSA screening.</p>

<p>Holy Spirit Health System’s support group for those who suffer from atrial fibrillation (A-Fib) will be held in August. A-Fib is a heart condition that affects more than three million Americans.</p>

<p>Join Safwat Gassis, MD, FACC, David Man, MD, FACC, and Stacey Solomon, RN-BC, from Holy Spirit’s Atrial Fibrillation Center, on Friday, August 29, from 2 to 3:30 p.m., for a discussion about “Atrial Fibrillation: What You Need to Know.”</p>

<p>Attendees will learn why it’s important to treat A-Fib; what these common heart rhythm problems can cause; and available treatment options.</p>
