Holy Spirit Hosts “Girls’ Night Out – A Unique Health and Welness Fair"

Posted: 5 September 2013

Holy Spirit Health System is hosting its annual “Girls’ Night Out” on Friday, October 11, from 6 to 9 p.m., at the Best Western Premier Hotel and Conference Center, 800 East Park Drive, Harrisburg.  Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.

Girls’ Night Out brings women together for fun, inspiration and health education.  The evening features an exclusive health and wellness pavilion, which pairs healthcare exhibitors with retail exhibitors.  Holy Spirit’s clinical staff will be available to talk with guests, providing insight into their health-related questions.  Retail exhibitors at Girls’ Night Out will showcase their best products and services for women, from cosmetics to bath and body to clothing and accessories. Other retailers will offer unique gift ideas for the upcoming holiday season.  Several fitness centers will be present to share information about the different types of fitness classes now available in the Harrisburg area.

The goal of the event is to provide disease prevention and health education for women of all ages.  Consequently, Holy Spirit is providing free health screenings at Girls’ Night Out.  Screenings include blood pressure, body mass index (BMI), bone density, glucose and cholesterol, cardiovascular risk assessment, sleep assessment and, on a more limited basis, peripheral artery disease (PAD).

This year’s theme, “An Enchanted Affair,” is all about pampering.  Participants can take advantage of 10-minute beauty makeover appointments with Mary Kay® and/or 12-minute chair massage appointments provided by the HACC School of Massage Therapy.  There’s also time to pamper your body and mind through free fitness classes.  Attendees can participate in a beginner’s yoga class at 6 p.m. taught by Om My Yoga.  This class is followed by an aerobic Zumba class led by the Harrisburg Area YMCA at 7 p.m.  For anyone curious about the pampering properties of essential oils, Om My Yoga returns to teach a special workshop focused on three key essential oils – lavender, lemon, and peppermint – and how they can be used to calm and relax or invigorate our moods.  The workshop, entitled “What’s All This Talk About Essential Oils,” begins at 8 p.m. and offers a free sample of doTERRA Essential Oils for each attendee.   The evening also features complimentary heart-healthy hors d’ouevres.  A full schedule of events can be found at www.hsh.org/spirit-of-women.

Girls’ Night Out is a free event open to women age 18 and older.  Attendees must pre-register for health screenings and pampering appointments.  To pre-register, call Holy Spirit at 717-763-2100.  Registrants will receive return phone call to schedule appointments; appointments are limited to two per person and fill quickly.  Walk-in registrants are also encouraged to attend.

Women age 18 and older are encouraged to join Holy Spirit’s Spirit of Women program, which entitles members to discounts at partner businesses, as well as advance notice for future Spirit of Women events.  For more information about this free membership program or about Girls’ Night Out, please visit www.hsh.org/spirit-of-women.
