"Child of My Heart" Support Group Held Each Month

Holy Spirit Health System offers a free support group for those who have experienced miscarriage, pregnancy loss, or the death of a child. “Child of My Heart” meets on the second Monday of each month from 6 to 7:30 p.m.  The support group is led by a nurse practitioner from Holy Spirit Hospital’s Behavioral Health department.  For more information or to register to attend, please call 763-2279.

Community Health Needs Assessement Report Unveiled

Three healthcare organizations — Holy Spirit Health System, Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, and PinnacleHealth System —chose to collaborate on a comprehensive community health needs assessment on behalf of the residents of Central Pennsylvania.  Each of the organizations has a long history of providing quality programs and services to people within the shared regional service area. This collaborative endeavor represented a willingness to work together to create a common resource to identify and understand community health needs, make the most of the community’s existing resources, use these common resources, and achieve economies of scale during the assessment phase.

Coventry HealthAmerica and Holy Spirit Health System partner to improve care for chronic illnesses

Coventry HealthAmerica, a Coventry Health Care plan, and Holy Spirit Health System have formed a new physician partnership program that will improve management of diseases and access to care for Coventry HealthAmerica members, particularly those who suffer from chronic illnesses. The goal of the program, which Holy Spirit has successfully offered to other patients, is to improve patient health and quality of care. This will result in the added benefit of decreasing the need for emergency room visits and hospitalization for patients with chronic conditions, such as diabetes and congestive heart failure.

SPSI owns and manages Holy Spirit’s multi-specialty practices, including family medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics/gynecology, internal medicine, cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, vascular surgery, general surgery, and endocrinology.

Gatesman Named Vice President at Holy Spirit Health System

David Gatesman has been promoted from director of imaging, sleep, cardiac and vascular imaging, and physician liaison services to vice president of professional services at Holy Spirit Health System. In his new role, Gatesman will be responsible for imaging services, laboratory, behavioral health, rehabilitative services, pastoral care, and pharmacy services. In addition to these, he will also continue to oversee Holy Spirit’s physician liaison and sleep center programs.
