Expanded Service at Holy Spirit Duncannon Center

The Pulmonary Diagnostics Lab has expanded its services at the Holy Spirit Duncannon Center, 51 Business Campus Way, Duncannon. It now offers complete pulmonary function testing, which is used to check the lung function of patients with asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, shortness of breath and other lung disorders. Testing is done by licensed respiratory staff with advanced training in pulmonary function. Tests are interpreted by experienced pulmonary medicine physicians. The information gathered during this testing allows physicians to diagnose, follow the progress of disease, and determine a patient’s response to treatment.

Bruce Haga was recently named president of Spirit Physician Services, Inc. (SPSI), a service of Holy Spirit Health System. SPSI owns and manages Holy Spirit’s multi-specialty practices, including family medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics/gynecology, internal medicine, cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, vascular surgery, general surgery, and endocrinology.

Gatesman Named Vice President at Holy Spirit Health System

David Gatesman has been promoted from director of imaging, sleep, cardiac and vascular imaging, and physician liaison services to vice president of professional services at Holy Spirit Health System. In his new role, Gatesman will be responsible for imaging services, laboratory, behavioral health, rehabilitative services, pastoral care, and pharmacy services. In addition to these, he will also continue to oversee Holy Spirit’s physician liaison and sleep center programs.

Free CPR Classes Offered in August

Holy Spirit Health System is offering free CPR classes on Saturday, August 4.  American Heart Association-trained instructors will be teaching these classes in Holy Spirit Hospital’s auditorium.  These courses will teach participants the skills needed to successfully resuscitate the victim of cardiopulmonary arrest and to relieve a foreign body airway obstruction.  Participants will learn the risk factors and signs of a stroke, heart attack, cardiopulmonary arrest, and airway obstruction, and how to correctly use an automated external defibrillator (AED) for adults and children.

Holy Spirit Mechanicsburg Center Relocated

The Holy Spirit Mechanicsburg Center has relocated to 4665 Trindle Road, Mechanicsburg, less than a half-mile from its former location on St. John’s Church Road. This move brings imaging, lab and magnetic imaging under one roof. Services provided at the center include CT, MRI, digital mammography, ultrasound, general X-ray, bone densitometry, and lab and EKG services.

Holy Spirit Carlisle Center Now Offers Digital Mammography

The Holy Spirit Carlisle Center has added digital mammography services. Imaging services now include MRI, CT, 3D and 4D ultrasound, full body bone densitometry, digital X-ray and digital mammography with computer-aided detection. Imaging services are offered Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Fridays from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and general X-ray only is offered on Saturday and Sunday from noon to 8 p.m.

Bereavement Support Group Offered

Holy Spirit Hospital’s Pastoral Care Department is offering a free Bereavement Support Group/Lecture Series for anyone who is grieving the death of a loved one.  It is also offered to those who care about friends who are grieving.  Various aspects of the grieving process will be discussed to help individuals understand how to cope with grief and how to develop skills necessary to turn their mourning into cherished memories of their loved ones.
