Hospitalist Program

Holy Spirit Hospital has a hospitalist program, employing physicians who oversee patients' care from the time they arrive in the hospital until they are discharged. Hospitalists, typically internists, take some of the burden from other physicians who need to care for patients in their offices. Hospitalists also take care of patients who are admitted to the hospital through the Emergency center and have no physician.

Neurology services are also offered through the hospitalist program. Two full-time board-certified neurologists are available to provide inpatient care seven days a week. Sleep Center

The Holy Spirit Sleep Center

The Holy Spirit Sleep Center, 3 Walnut Street, Lemoyne, is staffed by experienced technicians using the latest technology to assess sleep problems, such as sleep apnea and narcolepsy. Through careful monitoring of the patient's heart activities, brain waves, breathing and more, they are able to get to the root of most sleep disorders.

The Sleep Center features private bedrooms with individually controlled thermostats and private bathrooms. While patients sleep, staff painlessly measures brain activity, breathing, eye and body movements, heart rate, and amount of snoring.

Many people who snore and are tired when they wake up are among the estimated 40 million Americans who suffer from a chronic sleep disorder, with another 20 to 30 million having occasional sleep-related problems. Sleep disorders are common among shift workers and poor quality of sleep can lead to a host of health and safety issues or cause problems on the job or at home. Left untreated, sleep disorders can increase the risk of heart attack and stroke.

Sleep studies require a physician referral and are covered by most insurance plans. Check with your insurance program prior to scheduling a study. Sleep studies are done from Sunday through Friday. For more information, call the Sleep Center at 901-0317 between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.
